LDP Governor Support

Introduction
LDP Governor Support works in partnership with schools, the Dioceses and the voluntary sector to ensure Devon has sufficient governors and clerks who have received training and that all are aware of the statutory duties and powers of governing bodies; that they fulfil those duties and exercise those powers effectively; that they understand their strategic role in evaluating performance, raising standards and ensuring accountability in order to provide the best possible education for their pupils. As part of the LDP, the team liaise with advisers and school improvement officers (SIO's) who work together with schools to raise achievement and standards through the processes of monitoring, challenge, support and intervention.

Support
Our helplines are available to all governors, clerks and headteachers in Devon schools. We will help you with any aspect of governance of schools, especially duties, powers and responsibilities. We can also help with questions of procedure such as meetings, committees and minutes. We are very willing to listen, in confidence if you wish, and advise you on difficulties within your governing body.

You can telephone us on 01392 383611 or 383602.

You can email us at governor@devon.gov.uk or clerks@devon.gov.uk
