Education Other than at School
Attendance - Regular and punctual attendance of pupils at school is both a legal requirement, and essential in order for students to maximise the opportunities available to them. Home-based Education - The education of a child at home is a great responsibility for a family. It demands a serious commitment of time, money, patience and energy. If you are considering educating your child at home as opposed to in a school, it must be borne in mind that it is the decision of parents as to what and how the child learns and that it is your responsibility to provide your child with a broad and balanced curriculum. Hospital Education - The Hospital Education Centre, formerly the Exeter Hospital Teaching Service, was established in 1990 to provide education for children in the Exeter Hospitals. It is maintained by Devon Local Education Authority. In April 1998 with Local Government Reorganisation, the children's ward - Caroline Thorpe, joined the Centre's provision for young people at North Devon District Hospital in Barnstaple.
